Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor has made some controversial comments on SS Rajamouli. As per him, the 'Baahubali' maker shouldn't have chosen to release 'RRR' on October 13 when he knew fully well that Ajay Devgn's 'Maidaan' is scheduled to be released on October 15.
The producer feels that it is an unethical decision. This is bizarre, considering that the release date of a big-ticket movie, whose budget runs into hundreds of crores and whose release is going to be multi-lingual, is decided on the basis of a number of factors. No date may be suitable this year, given that last year's big releases are going to come out this year, one after one. The calender is going to be choc-a-bloc.
A decision of this sort is taken not just by the director but also by the producer in consultation with distributors. The latter two have a pivotal role in this. Boney, who has produced two Tamil movies and is presenting 'Vakeel Saab' in Telugu, has not shied away from criticizing Rajamouli in strong words. It goes to show that he realizes his home production, 'Maidaan', will feel the pinch in a big way because of 'RRR'.
