Ilayathalapathy Vijay's film to benefit from controversy
Kollywood's reigning star Vijay awaits the release of 'Sarkar' this Diwali. Recently, a poster in which he is seen smoking like a style icon was released. The news is that this poster has become controversial with the Tamil Nadu government’s Health Department sending notices to Vijay, director AR Murugadoss and Sun Pictures for "violating" the Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act.
Vijay's last outing, 'Mersal', hugely benefited from the controversy around the "defamation" of GST regime. 'Sarkar' won't benefit that much because the one going against it is not the BJP but a Dravidian party's government.
Nevertheless, Vijay should thank his stars. "The best thing about Thalapathy Vijay's producers is that they don't need to spend big money on promotions. You just make a movie with him and the promotions will be taken by bodies from Panchayat officers to Central Government (sic)," says a Twitter user.
