'Mudslinging is because MAA elections are nearing'
In the wake of allegations of misappropriation of funds at Movie Artists' Association President Shivaji Raja, Treasurer Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao and Executive Vice-President Srikanth today briefed the press. They pleaded innocence and challenged their detractors to prove that they have done any financial wrong.
"It seems they don't want a grand MAA building to come up," Paruchuri said. Just a few years ago, MAA had fund totalling Rs 2.10 crore, but today it has got more than Rs 5.50 crore. "Our target is to reach Rs 10 crore by holding three more events with Mahesh Babu, Prabhas and Nagarjuna," they said. "Since elections are nearing, some people are deliberately doing all this," they added.
If Shivaji Raja swore on God and his children, Srikanth said that he will quit from MAA if it's proven that he embezzled even one paisa.
They said that Naresh, the General Secretary, couldn't attend today's meet because he is busy with some assignments. Srikanth said that he wouldn't invite him again to clarify his position on the controversy. "I have done it once. He has not accepted my invite. I won't do it again," Srikanth said.
