After establishing a Happiness Department in 2017 (the only state in India to do so after Madhya Pradesh), Andhra Pradesh will bring out its own happiness index. Towards evolving a standardized index, a commission will be set up.
In this endeavour, Naidu also seeks to make Amaravati as one of the top three happiest cities in the world. The rating will be as per international benchmarks.
The Chief Minister has long started involving local-self governments, too, in this task. For example, many municipalities have been impressed upon to earmark physical space in towns so that ‘Happy Sundays can be organized.
