Sridevi's death: Is media vindicated?
With former Delhi ACP Ved Bhushan saying again that Sridevi's might have been a case of murder, the media's probing questions hours after the actress's death in February seem to be relevant once again. Ved has said that the Dawood Ibrahim mafia might be behind Sridevi's "murder". As per him, a big-ticket insurance policy taken in her name must have been the motive to kill her only in a Gulf country.
Ved's allegation is in line with what BJP's Subramanian Swamy said in February. "Facts in media don't appear to be consistent. She never drank hard liquor. How did it enter her system? What happened to CCTV? Doctors suddenly appeared before the media and said she died of heart failure," he told a news agency.
This is not to say that the media was entirely alright. Some TV channels were grossly irresponsible in making insinuations. But many asked questions responsibly about Sridevi's death. And their questions deserve answers!
